Travellers Haven founder wins entrepreneur award

Elia Wallen, the founder of Travelers Haven, has won the 2017 Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Mountain Desert states.

Travelers Haven is a Denver-based company that arranges temporary housing for corporate employees in more than 120 countries. Its has grown from 103 employees to 133 in the past year and is now one of the largest corporate housing providers in the US.

Wallen also founded Hotel Engine, a hotel room booking company which is expected to generate $150 million in revenue this year. Travelers Haven and Hotel Engine currently work with 20 of the Fortune 500 companies.

Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY) is a prestigious business award bestowed by a panel of independent judges including prominent business and finance leaders. The award recognises "the contribution of entrepreneurs who inspire others with their vision and leadership. It celebrates those who are building dynamic and successful businesses".

"My proudest professional accomplishment is that we have maintained our bootstrap status. We have never received or raised any money from any outside investors," said Wallen.

Wallen will go on to compete for the national Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Palm Springs, this November.
